The invention relates to a method of controlling the material and/or moisture content of an elongated object (4) which comprises, inter alia, fibrous material, in which a quantity of fibrous material containing a moist binder is compressed (7, 8) and the compressed quantity of fibrous material is dried by passing the material quantity between the electrodes (12, 13) of a drier (5) which is active at high frequencies. An increase or a decrease in the material content of the finished elongated object (4) is achieved by increasing or decreasing the proportion of fibre in respective quantities (via 6, 6a) and the moisture content is increased or decreased, either by decreasing or increasing the power output of the drier (5) and/or shortening or lengthening the stay time of respective quantities in the drier. |
