A tension-proof optical conductor is described in which there are arranged around at least one optical fibre (1) a slip layer (2), a separating layer (3), a tension-proof band (4) and a plastic jacket (5). The diameter of the conductor is 1.3-1.4 mm. By combining a plurality of conductors to form basic and/or main fibre groups (units), it is possible to construct multi-conductor cables of high packing density. <IMAGE>
