A device for producing NC programmes on the basis of originals is disclosed. The device contains a programming unit with an input keyboard in order to convert defined elements of the original into discrete coordinate values of a cartesian NC coordinate system by means of specification parameters. The device contains a carriage arrangement with a first stationary running rail, a first carriage which can be displaced along the first running rail, a second running rail which is arranged perpendicularly on the first carriage, a second carriage which can be displaced along the second running rail and a positioning or reading aid which is arranged on the second carriage, and the input keyboard of the programming unit is arranged on the second carriage.
