PURPOSE:To obtain a compensation output of a chrominance carrier signal with high accuracy and a small circuit scale by using a difference of a burst between a burst signal in an input chrominance carrier signal and a burst value smoothed before so as to smooth the input burst. CONSTITUTION:A burst detector 4 detects a peak value (burst value) of a burst signal included in a chrominance carrier signal inputted to a terminal 1 at each horizontal period one after another, a burst value smoothed before is subtracted by a subtracter 18, and the result is multiplied by 1/K at a 1/K multiplier 19. The signal subjected to 1/K multiple is added to the burst value smoothed before by an adder 20 and the result is inputted to a divider 13 and a latch 21 as an output of a smoothing circuit 17. The divider 13 outputs a value being the division of the reference burst by the smoothed burst value when the smoothed burst is a prescribed threshold value or over, and outputs '0' if the burst value is less than the prescribed threshold value. The output of the divider is multiplied with the chrominance carrier signal at a multiplier 15 and the chrominance carrier signal output subject to amplitude compensation with high accuracy is obtained at an output terminal 16.
