PURPOSE:To generate ultrasonic standing waves having no turbulence by driving an ultrasonic transducer by a transducer drive circuit and generating acoustic standing waves on both surfaces of a total reflection mirror. CONSTITUTION:A total reflection spectro-modulator l consists of a prism 13, a total reflection mirror 11, an acoustic medium 14 and an ultrasonic transducer 12. The transducer 12 is stuck extending over both the prism 13 and the medium 14. The transducer 12 is excited by high frequency from a transducer driver 4 formed by a high-frequency generator. Beams 5145Angstrom are reflected by an output mirror 5 by standing-waves generated by the transducer 12, and projected at a Brester's angle to the modulator 1. When the transducer 12 is not excited, all of beans of 5145Angstrom are changed into laser oscillation beams. Since other discharge beam components such as beams of 4880Angstrom are projected to the prism 13 at a different angle, reflected beams are not superposed to incident beams. Accordingly, only beams of 5145Angstrom are extracted from the modulator 1. |
