PRODUCTION OF FINE TITANIUM OXIDE PARTICLE

PURPOSE:To obtain fine titanium oxide particles which are monodisperse and high in sphericity at high yield in favorable productivity by adding an alcoholic aq. soln. to an alcohol soln. of titanium alkoxide and growing the produced fine titanium oxide particles. CONSTITUTION:Titanium alkoxide is dissolved in alcohol having <=3g/l water content at <=1.2mol/l concn. Hydrolysis is started by adding an alcoholic aq. soln. wherein water of equivalent or below necessitated for the hydrolysis of titanium alkoxide is contained at <=100g/l concn. to the obtained alkoxide soln. In such a stage that colloidal particles of titanium oxide are produced, the alcoholic aq. soln. having (2-10)g/l concn. of water is added at >=0.5wt. timer of total amount of the reaction soln. Then the produced fine titanium oxide particles are grown to obtain the aimed fine titanium oxide particles.
