The invention relates to a lightweight hull which is obtained when an airbag is clamped between two thin plates on three sides, namely bow, stern and keel, by screwing, rivetting and/or adhesive bonding or welding. Through injection of compressed air into the airbag, a fluidically advantageous boat shape results by the lightweight hull opening at the top towards the open side and obtaining the very favourable strength values due to the resulting dimensional stability and the amount of pressure applied. This boat shape is especially suitable for the construction of catamarans. To improve the manoeuvrability of the abovementioned lightweight hull, the air pressure present in the airbag can be utilized by a portion of the compressed air being directed via a valve to the rudder, where the discharging compressed air is utilized as a control drive via a compressed-air motor with propeller or via a nozzle according to the reaction principle.
