An ammonia or ammonia/urea plant comprising a gas turbine (4) driven alternator (3) to provide part of electrical power requirements of the plant and a steam driven (7) alternator (6) to provide additional power requirements, the plant being arranged such that the gas turbine is driven at a constant rate and the gas turbine exhaust is introduced into the primary reformer furnace (1) as preheated combustion air thereby ensuring constant firing conditions in the primary reformer, any variation in the power required by the plant being met by adjustment of the steam turbine. |
