PURPOSE:To prevent the waving of molten surface in a mold by circumferential magnetic field and induced current and the enclosure of powder, which is not yet melted, and to obtain a cast slab having good quality without enclosure of slag by conducting high frequency current into induction coil arranged just above the mold for continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:The induction coil 11 insulated 12 is arranged just above charged powder 3a at the circumference of continuous casting mold 1. The high frequency current is conducted in the coil 11 and then, by magnetic field and induced current generated in the circumference, the waving of molten surface 2 in the mold is prevented and also the powder, which is not yet melted, on the surface is melted by exothermic generated by the induced current and by intervening uniformly the thin layer of melting powder 3b between the mold 1 and the developed solidified shell 8, the cast slab surface having good quality without any enclosure of slag is obtd. |
