PURPOSE:To easily detect the defect of a wire at low cost by arranging one arcuate photosensor semicircularly at the outer periphery of the wire for plural light sources. CONSTITUTION:The plural light source 4 are arranged at equal intervals on the half of the same external circumference of the wire 1 to be detected which runs. Further, a lens 5 which converts light from the light sources 4 into parallel a light beam perpendicular to the running direction of the wire is arranged between each light source 4 and the wire 1. Further, the semicircular arcuate photosensor 7 is arranged along the outer periphery of the wire 1 opposite the light sources 4 and lenses 5 across the wire 1. Therefore, even if the wire 1 runs in a twisted state, there is no influence upon the detection of the defect and the wire 1 is guided in front of and behind a detection space to prevent the wire 1 from being deflected, thereby easily detecting the wire at low cost. |
