PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having excellent flame-retardance, mold-releasability and mechanical properties and low gas generation in combustion and suitable as an engineering plastic, by compounding specific amounts of brominated polystyrene compound, an antimony compound, etc., to a base resin. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. of an aromatic polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) having a relative viscosity of 1.2-1.8 is compounded with (A) 1-50pts.wt., of a brominated styrene polymer of formula (R1 is H or methyl; lis 1-5; m is 30-1,500) [e.g. poly(2,4,6-tribromostyrene), etc.] having an average polymerization degree of 30-1,500, (B) 0.1-20pts.wt. of an antimony compound (e.g. antimony trioxide) and (C) 0.001-5pts.wt. of a phenolic compound and/or phosphite compound having a molecular weight of >=500 and containing one or more aromatic rings. |
