[Also in Group V] In apparatus for laminating extruded synthetic resin material such as polythene to webs of paper, metal foil, or other synthetic resin foils, the extrusion head 1 is connected to a feed screw 2 suspended vertically or substantially vertically, on rails 9 or slides whereby the whole extrusion apparatus can be moved laterally, for example by an electric motor 12 or by a screw, from above the laminating rolls 6, 7. The feed screw 2 has a length-diameter ratio of about 18: 1 and is driven by variable-speed gearing in a housing 4; the extrudate, introduced into a hopper, not shown, in granular or other form, is heated electrically by coils 3 and gases are drawn off through a cowl 11. The web 5 is supplied by rollers including a heated roller 8, and passes between the nip of rollers 6, 7 to which the extrudate 14 is supplied. The nozzle 1 is tapered to bring it close to the rollers and is adjustable in width and thickness. The roller 7 is of chromium-plated steel and contains cooling means; the roller 6 is of resilient material and is pressed against roller 7 by a compressed-air cylinder 15 acting on an arm 16 on which the roller is mounted.
