PURPOSE:To improve fractionation accuracy and to permit automation of fractionation operations by computer control by providing a control mechanism to shift the operation to the ensuing stage when the concn. of the high-polymer material in the eluate from a column attains 0. CONSTITUTION:The elements to constitute the fractionation device such as a carrier packed column 1 installed in a thermostatic chamber 2, a fixed delivery pump 6 for introducing the eluate into an introducing part 1a of the column 1, a detector 8 such as differential refractometer for detecting the concn. of the high-polymer material, a fraction collector 7 connected to a leading out part 1b the column 1 and a temp. sensor 3 provided in the thermostatic chamber 2 are controlled by the control mechanism 9. After the column temp. is raised to a set temp. by a heater 4, the pump 6 is operated to introduce the solvent in a tank 5 in every specified amt. into the column 1. The concn. of the high-polymer material in the eluate under the passage is detected by the detector 8 during the time when the eluate from the column 1 is delivered to the collector 7. The operation of the pump 6 is ended and the operation is shifted to the ensuing stage when the concn. of the high-polymer material in the eluate from the leading out part 1b of the column attains 0. |
