PURPOSE:To obtain a human polyfunctional hematopoiesis stimulation factor having particular characteristics, by carrying out the mixed culture of a peripheral blood monocyte and a heat-treated and inactivated B-lymphoblastoid cell strain IM-9 and separating the objective factor from its supernatant liquid. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral blood monocyte (originated from a normal person or a patient of myeloproliferative diseases) and B-lymphoblastoid cell strain IM-9 inactivated by heat-treatment are subjected to mixed culture to produce the objective human polyfunctional hematopoiesis stimulation factor having a molecular weight of about 29,000 and an isoelectric point of 5.0-5.5 and exhibiting differentiation and proliferation stimulating action to various precursor cells such as (a) pluripotent hematopoiesis precursor cell, (b) granulocyte- macrophage hematopoiesis precursor cell, (c) prophase erythroblast hematopoiesis precursor cell and (d) mastocyte and basophilic hematopoiesis precursor cell. The factor can be separated from the supernatant liquid of the cultured liquid. |
