PURPOSE:To obtain a cluster system or the like without sharply modifying the function of a resource access control means used for an ordinary stand-alone system by connecting switching means correspondingly to input/output control means for controlling the input/output of a certain kind of storage means to switch local access and remote access. CONSTITUTION:In case of generating access request messages from the resource access control means 5a, 5b in access requesting terminals 1a, 1b when the switching means 6a, 6b are set up on the local access side, the message are transferred from the means 5a, 5b to the input/output control means 7a, 7b. When the means 6a, 6b are set up on the remote access side, messages indicating the transfer of the access request messages to the input/output control means 7b, 7a in the other terminals 1b, 1a are transferred to communication control mechanisms 10a, 10b in the self-terminals 1a, 1b and the access request messages are transferred to the input/output control means 7b, 7a in the other terminals 1b, 1a based on communication between the mechanisms 10a, 10b in both the terminals 1a, 1b. Consequently, the resources of the memory devices in both the terminals can be accessed.
