PURPOSE:To reduce the ventilation resistance to exhaust gas and to increase the surface area of a waveform by laminating a metallic corrugated sheet having a specified rugged shape and flat sheets, and winding the sheets in multiple layers to form a core part, and using the core part to form the title metal honeycomb carrier. CONSTITUTION:The corrugated sheet 33 is arranged between the flat sheets 31, and the rugged shape of the corrugated sheet 33 is formed by a convex semicircle 35 having a radius R and a concave semicircle 37 having a radius R and connected to the convex semicircle 35. Namely, the concave semicircle 37 is connected to both ends of the convex semicircle 35 while sharing the same tangential line at the joint. When the width of one cell in the corrugated sheet 33 is assumed to be 4R, the height is 2R. Since the rugged shape of the corrugated sheet 33 is formed by the convex semicircle 35 having a radius R and the concave semicircle 37 having a radius R are connected to the convex semicircle 35 in the metal honeycomb carrier thus formed, the concave semicircle 37 never penetrates into the convex semicircle 35 side. |
