PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration and decomposition of the title cellulose acetate membrane due to microbes without using formalin having many problems in toxicity and after-treatment, by adding chlorine and/or a copper ion to the storing soln. of a cellulose acetate membrane or the plant raw liq. in operation. CONSTITUTION:Chlorine or a copper ion or both of them are added to the storing soln. of a cellulose acetate membrane. More than about 0.5mg/l of the chlorine ion is allowed to remain in the soln., and >=about 10mg/l of the copper ion is allowed to remain in the soln. The chlorine or copper ion exerts an effect on sterilizing the cellulose acetate decomposing bacteria belonging to Pseudomonas with the addition of a small amt. as compared with the conventional method using formalin, the deterioration and decomposition of the cellulose acetate membrane can be prevented, and hazards are practically eliminated. |
