PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having excellent heat-resistance, chemical resistance, etc., by reacting a bifunctional epoxy resin, a dihydric phenol, bisphenol A and a bisphenol A-polyfunctional epoxy resin at specific ratios in the presence of a basic catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by reacting (A) a bifunctional epoxy resin having an average molecular weight of <=450, (B) a dihydric phenol of formula I (R1 and R2 are H, 1-3C alkyl, etc.; X is halogen), (C) bisphenol A and (D) a bisphenol A-polyfunctional epoxy resin of formula II (R1 and R2 are 1-3C alkyl or alkenyl; n is 1-3) in the presence of a basic catalyst. The sum of the components B and C is 10-50pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the sum of the components A and D and the amount of the component D is 5-60pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the sum of the components A, B and C.
