PURPOSE:To enhance developed color density, color forming sensitivity and ground brightness, by jointly using a diphenyl compound of formula (1) as an auxiliary component in a thermal recording material utilizing a color forming reaction between a leuco dye and a color developer therefor. CONSTITUTION:In formula (1), R is a hydrocarbon group having at least one unsaturated triple bond (which ordinarily has 1-12 carbon atoms and may have a branch chain), each of X and Y, which may be the same or different, is a halogen, alkyl, alkoxyl, aryl or aralkyl, and each of m and n is independently an integer of 0-3. A diphenyl compound of formula (1) has a high ability to dissolve widely used color developers and leuco dyes when being heated, so that a thermal recording material with an arbitrary sensitivity can be obtained by controlling the melting point of the diphenyl compound. The compound preferably has a melting point of 50-120 deg.C, from the viewpoints of preservation stability and sensitivity. |
