PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform low-temperature drying in a short time by controlling a damper by the use of a combustion gas temperature mea sured with a temperature sensor. CONSTITUTION:After lead storage battery's cathode plates 9 are chemicalized and rinsed, they are housed inside a drying device 1. An air flowing-in damper 4 and an exhaustion damper 5 are completely opened and a return damper 6 is completely closed, then a drying operation is started. A combustion gas generated by a burner 2 is made to continuously pass among a plurality of cathode plates 9 by a blower 3, and next it is exhausted. A temperature of the combustion gas flowing among the cathode plates 9 is measured with a temperature sensor 7. At a time when this temperature attains to 50 deg., the air flowing-in damper 4 is closed to adjust the amount of air taken from outside to be the lowest limit necessary for the combustion of the burner, and concur rently the exhaustion damper 5 is closed and the return damper 6 is completely opened. |
