PURPOSE:To shorten the period of service interruption in line capacity changeover by installing an auxiliary optical transmission line in advance in addition to an optical transmission line for transmission/reception. CONSTITUTION:First, a line (2nd outgoing line) having a larger capacity than the outgoing lie including an optical fiber 2-2 is constituted by using an auxiliary fiber 2-3. Of course, it is not required to interrupt the service in conducting the test of the line 2-3. Since the information of a 1st outgoing line 2-2 is included in the transmission of a 2nd outgoing line 2-3, after the test is finished, the changeover is attained instantly to continue the service. Next, the optical fiber of the 1st outgoing line 2-2 not in use is used as the auxiliary fiber and the 2nd incoming line is constituted. In this case, a transmitter 18 and a receiver 19 are replaced to constitute the 2nd incoming line, then the economical effect by the effective use of the existing installation is attained. |
