PURPOSE:To facilitate a production by constituting the titled element of plastic which has the optical anisotropy having a continuously changing uniaxial optical axis. CONSTITUTION:A plastic stock is applied with bending stress to one side and is segmented at need. The plastic 10 after segmentation has the optical axis changing continuously as shown by arrows 13. The plastic 10 acts as an entirely isotropic material to an ordinary ray (o) similar to a Rochon prism and acts as a material in which the refractive index thereof is continuously distributed and the refractive index is higher on one side to an extraordinary ray (e) when the optical anisotropy is imparted to the plastic by stressing the same. A single plastic may be used and the production operation is extremely facilitated.
