PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of the titled mechanism by constituting the mechanism so that the drive element of an original carrying roller is disconnected from a drive system associatively with the action to release the pressing of the said roller on a close contact type image sensor. CONSTITUTION:The release an original, a release level 31 is unlocked. Since bearing fork link 34 turns in the counterclockwise direction, a bearing 35 pinched by the forked part of the link 34 moves along an oblong hole of a bearing slide member 38 to th lift-hand side. At this time, a gear 29 fixed on a spindle 30 is dismeshed from a gear 25. At the same time, the countercloskwise twistion of an original reader sensor main body 5 around the center point of rotation 11 is stopped by a stopper 40 at a suitable point. Consequently, the roller 1 fixed on the same axis as that of the main body 5 is released from the contact with an original carrying guide member 2. Through the above processes, the original carrying roller 1 is disconnected from the drive system at the time of releasing the original, therefore, its rotation in both directions is made free.
