PURPOSE:To effectively utilize the resources of a remote computer by transferring the operation program of a maintenance program for updating together with the software to be updated. CONSTITUTION:A master computer 1 synthesizes the updating software 3 and a command parameter 2 which instructs the working of a maintenance program for the updating of the software 3 into a file. This file is received by a remote computer 7 via a communication channel 0 and then decomposed and restored into the original component elements by a file decomposing/restoring mechanism 11. Then the file is driven by a command parameter which instructs the working of the maintenance program. Thus the software 3 is updated. In such a way, the software of a remote computer can be automatically updated.
