In order, in a device for the automatic filling of liquids or pasty substances, as is the case in a clocked manner in automatic filling machines, to which containers filled with fruit or vegetables are supplied, to prevent liquid dripping on the lifting off of the filling pipe which has a filling valve at its end, there is, according to the invention, arranged on the underside of the valve housing (1) a sleeve-shaped annular web (12), along which the filling head ring (7), which is pressed with a sealing ring (8) against the edge of the container (10) to be filled, slides off during lifting off of the valve housing (1) and thus closes the outlet duct of the valve housing (1) which is delimited by a plate washer (6). In order to guarantee a safe closing of the outlet duct of the valve housing (1), a spring can be arranged between the filling head ring (7) and an annular shoulder (11) surrounding the annular web (12). <IMAGE>
