PURPOSE:To minimize and lighten a head feeding mechanism by providing a guide arm to which an optical head is brought into contact, at the time of seeking between respective media. CONSTITUTION:The guide arm 15 for positioning an optical head 6 in the place corresponding to the information surface of the medium 4, with which the optical head 6 is brought into contact at the time of seeking, is provided between the respective media 4. When the optical head 6 seeks, the optical head 6 (guide 16 which exists in the optical head) is brought into contacts with the guide arm 15 to suppress the vibration of the head 6 and the space between the optical head 6 and the medium 4 surface is decided with the precision of the guide arm 15. Therefore, rigidity and precision which are necessary for a head feeding mechanism 9 are decided by the guide arm 15 and the rigidity of the head shifting mechanism 9 is not needed so much. Thus, a small-sized and simple constitution is made possible, so that the device can be minimized and lightened.
