PURPOSE:To provide a molding method which enables the molding at room temp. and the preparation of a powdery coke molding having a large crushing strength at room temp. and a high temp., by mixing powdery coke with bentonite as a binder, a particular additive and water, molding and drying the mixture, and hardening the molding. CONSTITUTION:Powdery coke is mixed with a binder composed of bentonite alone or a combination of cement with bentonite, at least one additive selected from among polyethylene oxide, carboxymethylcellulose, ligninsulfonic acid and corn starch, and water. The mixture is kneaded, molded, dried, and then cured. The powdery coke is one having such a particle size distribution that the particles having a size of 1mm or less amounts to 80wt.% or more. The binder is preferably 1-5wt.% bentonite alone or a combination of 5-15wt.% Portland cement with 1-5wt.% bentonite.
