PURPOSE:To make the diameter of wind-up of a wire small after completion of wind.up so as to make it possible to release the tension of a wire, in an wind-up drum for a long liner, by constituting a drum barrel with a pair of semicircular cylinders, and by disposing a drive means for moving them to and away from each other, between them. CONSTITUTION:When, for example, a root rope 17 is wound up by a wind-up drum 10, an opening 16 is opened so as to introduce pressure fluid into a tube 15 which therefore expands, and therefore, a semicircular cylinder 14A is moved away from a cylinder 14B so that the drum barrel 13 becomes substantially circular. In this condition a tension is applied to the root rope 17 which is then wound up onto the drum barrel between flanges 11, 11. Further, when the wind-up is completed, the opening 16 is opened so as allow the tube to contract, and therefore, the semicircular cylinders 14A, 14B comes close to each other so that the outer diameter of the drum barrel 13 is decreased to release the tension of the root line. Accordingly, if the root rope 17 is held in this condition until the next working, and therefore, the rope 17 is prevented from being deteriorated, thereby it is possible to hold the resiliency of the rope 17 necessary for the working.
