PURPOSE:To carry out dyeing and strengthening treatment by which the light resistance of alumite is improved as compared with a conventional method, by successively immersing the alumite in nitric acid and sulfuric acid solns. each contg. a prescribed amt. of a surfactant and by dyeing the alumite with an org. dye. CONSTITUTION:Alumite obtd. by anodically oxidizing Al or an Al alloy is immersed in 40W/W% nitric acid soln. contg. 0.1-0.3W/W% surfactant. The alumite is washed and immersed in 1.5W/W% sulfuric acid soln. contg. 0.1-0.3W/W% similar surfactant. The treated alumite is then dyed with an org. dye. By this method, dyed alumite having superior light resistance is easily obtd. as compared with a conventional method.
