PURPOSE:To easily obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic precursor for chuanghsinmycin, by thermally decomposing a specific hydrazone derivative in the presence of a base. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula II can be produced by the thermal decomposition of a hydrazone derivative of formula I (R is H or lower alkyl; X is arenesulfonyl) in the presence of preferably 1-1.2 equivalent of a base (e.g. sodium hydride) usually in a solvent such as THF preferably at 140-170 deg.C.
