The subject of the invention relates to a functional device relating to seat-parts and backrests which can be fitted to convertible armchairs and sofabeds. It consists of the combination, firstly of a panel 10 hinged at the base of the backrest 9 and occupying with its surface the whole space of the seat-part and of the backrest by rotation through 90 DEG . It is intended for protecting the trimmings of the supporting elements of the opened-out or folded-up parts forming the seat-part, while filling the empty space of the backrests during the conversions. <IMAGE>
