PURPOSE:To simplify the customization and the diversion of a new user by producing automatically a history file showing a specific type of editing that is carried out when a source program, a JCL file, etc., are edited by means of a text editor of a full screen mode. CONSTITUTION:When a screen editor 3 is started via a Japanese word work station 6, the information on an input file 1 to be edited is copied to a work file 4. Then a history file 5 set in a fixed disk is replaced for each of the correction, deletion and addition processes. When the operation of the editor 3 is through, an editing output file 2 is superscribed. Thus the new or continuous information is given to the file 5. When the new information is designated, the file 5 is newly produced. While the history is replaced with reference to the existing file 5 when the continuous information is designated. Thus the histories can be stored in a source program and a JCL file.
