PURPOSE:To improve file transfer efficiency when a fault occurs by designating an address into the data on a transfer file when data are registered and at the same time adding the message serial numbers into the data on the transfer file. CONSTITUTION:A host computer 100 includes an inter-computer file transfer device 110, a batch application 120, and an on-line application 130. Then an address is designated into the data on a transfer file when data are registered and the file transfer is carried out between the computers 100 based on said designated address. At the same time, the message serial numbers are added to the data on the transfer file and the processing is started at the data of the relevant message serial number when a fault is restored. Furthermore an application suited to the application form is used and a transmission type is designated into the data on the transfer file. Then the application is started according to the designated transmission type when the transfer file is received. Thus it is possible to set the priority among plural transfer files for simultaneous transfer of files by designating a class name into the data on the transfer file.
