PURPOSE:To obtain the title sintered ceramic by forming a mixture giving SiC-Al-O-N crystalline phase together with TiN and/or ZrN powder, and sintering them, thus having high density, high oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, strength, hardness, shock resistance and electro-conductivity. CONSTITUTION:(A) A less than 10mu fine particle mixture of SiC, AlN, Al2O3 and others of over 99% purity, giving SiC-Al-O-N crystalline phase, and (B) less than average 10mu fine particles of TiN and/or ZrN of over 99% purity as a resource of TiN, ZrN phase are mixed and, when needed, further finely pulverized to less than 10mu particle sizes. The particle mixture is charged in a graphite mold and formed by compression with a hot press in an inert or reductive atmosphere of N2, He, Ar, or CO and sintered at 1,600-2,100 deg.C for 0.5-3hr.
