NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R is lower alkyl; n is 0-2). EXAMPLE:3-Trifluoromethyl-2'-methylthiobenzenesulfonanilide. USE:A germicide for farm and garden, useful in wide range of diseases, e.g. damping-off and blast of paddy, powdery mildew, rust and downy mildew of vegetable and fruit tree and exhibiting excellent effect to especially clubroot of brassicae vegetable which is a disease difficult to control at reduced amount of germicide, in comparison with pentachloronitrobenzene hitherto applied. PREPARATION:meta-Trifluoromethylbenzenesulfonylchloride expressed by formu la II is reacted with a 2-alkylthioaniline, 2-alkylsulfinylaniline or 2- alkylsulfonylanilines in a solvent such as THF in the presence of an acid binding agent (e.g. pyridine) at room temperature - temperature of boiling point of the solvent to provide the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
