1,066,993. Fixing and developing solutions. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 8, 1964 [April 8, 1963], No. 14460/64. Heading G2C. An aqueous alkaline photographic processing solution for light sensitive silver halide materials contains a thiosulphate fixing agent (e. g. Na, K or ammonium thiosulphate), a thickening agent, physical development nuclei and an aliphatic amine which is morpholine or a compound of formula RNR1, R2 wherein R represents a hydroxy alkyl group having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms and R1 and R2 each represents hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms. The amine may in part be present as its sulphur dioxide addition product. Specified thickening agents are guar gum, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, silica gel and starch. Specified physical development nuclei are colloidal silver, sulphides and selenides of the metals of Group IB, II, IVB and VIII of the Short Periodic table e. g. zinc, cadmium, copper, nickel and silver and particles which give nuclei on reaction with dissolved silver. The solutions may contain developers e.g. hydroquinone, N-methyl-pamino phenol sulphate and chlorohydroquinone or mixtures thereof with 3-pyrazolidones e. g. such as 1-phenyl-, 1 p-tolyl, 1-phenyl-5-methyl-, 1-acetamido phenyl or 1-phenyl-4, 4-dimethyl- 3-pyrazolidone or compounds which hydrolyse to 3-pyrazolidones in alkaline solution e. g. 3- acetoxy-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline, 2 - (pyridinium acetyl)-1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone chloride, 1- phenyl-2-lauroyl-3-pyrazolidone and 1-phenyl- 2-chloroacetyl-3-pyrazolidone. The solution may contain KBr or K1.
