A section of the gas circulating tube (2) extends through the lance (11). One (10) of the two sections (9,10) of a quick-connection coupling is held in the lance. The probe retains the other section of the quick-connection coupling on the side facing away from the gas-collecting section of the probe and spaced from the gas-collecting section. The coupling ensures that a gas tight connection is made both with the gas supply line and with the gas discharge line of the probe when the coupling sections are joined in the gas circuit.
