PURPOSE:To minimize the operation of tritium cleaning equipment of a storage building or storage chamber for storing solid waste contg. tritium by intermittently carrying out the operation of the tritium cleaning equipment and fan cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The solid waste is housed in a vessel 1 of a tritium treatment system. The solid waste contains the tritium and the tritium existing near the surface of the solid waste is liable to gush out. The gushing of the tritium is, therefore, accelerated and the tritium is diffused in the vessel 1 if the vessel 1 is heated by energizing a heating means 2 on the outside peripheral face of the vessel 1. The atmosphere in the vessel 1 is sucked and discharged by opening an isolating valve 5 and operating a fan 8 and the tritium cleaning equipment 10. The tritium generated in the vessel 1 is thereby removed and only the air is released from a discharge cylinder 13 through a discharge air conditioning duct 11 and an air conditioning machine 12.
