PURPOSE:To obtain a pyrrole polymer having a high conductivity of about 100S/cm or above without doping, by mixing pyrrole and a polymerization oxidizing agent under specified conditions of the solvent, the polymerization oxidizing agent, the concentration thereof and the time at which the reaction is stopped. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of a pyrrole polymer by mixing pyrrole or a solution of pyrrole in a solvent with a solution of a polymerization oxidizing agent for pyrrole in a solvent, an alcoholic solvent is used as the solvent and ferric chloride is used as the polymerization oxidizing agent for pyrrole, the concentration of ferric chloride when mixed is adjusted to 30% or more and up to the saturation concentration for the alcoholic solvent, and the reaction is stopped within 60min after the mixing. As the oxidizing agent to be used for the polymerization of pyrrole, only ferric chloride can be employed for accomplishing the purpose. Other oxidizing agents can not accomplish the purpose even if other conditions are the same.
