PURPOSE:To produce a W/O gel readily at low cost without using any expensive facilities, by adding predetermined amts. of a surfactant and a liq. hydrocarbon to a small amt. of water and agitating the mixture to thereby obtain a W/O creamy mixture and by repeating the steps of water addn. and agitation. CONSTITUTION:0.2-3vol.% surfactant and 0.2-6vol.% liq. hydrocarbon are added to a small amt. of water, and the mixture is agitated, thereby obtaining a W/O creamy mixture. Further, water is added in an amt. of 1-30vol.% relative to the total amt. of the mixture, and likewise agitated well, thereby producing a W/O creamy mixture. This step is repeated until the water content of the whole mixture becomes 80-99vol.%, thereby obtaining a W/O gel. Without using any conventional expensive emulsifying apparatus, it is possible to produce a W/O gel readily at low cost, which enables recycling of waste oil etc.
