PURPOSE:To enhance the perfection of coating by dispersing core particles into a shell material solution in the basic pH region, and then, changing the pH of the dispersion to precipitate the shell material and to coat the surfaces of the particles with it. CONSTITUTION:The encapsulated toner is produced by dissolving the shell material in an aqueous medium, such as a mixture of water and a lower alcohol, adding a basicity changing agent, such as NaOH, to set it to the basic pH, dispersing the solid core particles containing a colorant into said aqueous medium, then adding an acidifying agent, such as acetic acid, to change the pH of the dispersion upto the region precipitating the shell material, and thus coating the surfaces of the core particles with the shell material, thus permitting agglomeration or coalescence of the produced capsules, and occurrence of free shells to be prevented, and the toner high in the perfection of coating to be obtained. |
