PURPOSE:To contrive enhancement of abrasion resistance of a roller and prevent a load torque on a roller-driving motor from being increased, by using a platen roller which is obtained by providing an elastic member layer on a peripheral wall of a cylindrical part of a base body and in which the elastic member layer has a specified surface frictional coefficient. CONSTITUTION:An elastic member layer 1 is provided on a peripheral wall of a cylindrical part of a base body of a platen roller 9. The surface frictional coefficient of the elastic member is set to be 0.20-0.50. The elastic member 1 preferably has a permanent set in compression of not more than 10%. The elastic member 1 is formed from a material such as a silicone rubber and an inexpensive rubber, e.g., an SBR, NBR or CR rubber. The elastic member formed of such a rubber or the like is subjected to a chemical surface treatment, e.g., chlorination. |
