ARMATURE COIL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

An armature coil is formed into a cylinder of a thin, flexible insulating strip (12) on which a plurality of unit coil groups (12) are printed each group consisting of an even number of unit coils. The gap between the conductors of the unit coil groups arranged on the outer peripheral side of the cylinder is selected to be broader than the gap between the conductors of the unit coil groups arranged on the inner peripheral side. To produce the armature coil, the printed coil (10) and an insulating member (31) having a flexible surface with a thermoplastic adhesive layer are wound together into a cylinder. An adhesive (32) is filled between the printed coil (10) and the insulating member (31) and between the insulating members (31) in the cylinder so that they are securely fixed, and the final end of the insulating member (31) is adhered by heating to the inner peripheral layer. The yield is improved in the etching step, and the armature coil exhibits uniform thickness over the whole circumference.
