<p>Process for improving the pressing of pulp from the sugar industry by an enzyme treatment, and a plant for implementing this process. To optimise the enzyme treatment and thus to produce appreciable energy savings in the pressing and possibly the drying of the pulp, the pulp and the dilute enzymes are delivered continuously to the suction orifice of a pump (14) capable of mixing the pulp and the enzymes and conveying them to a storage area (16), the pulp is stockpiled in a heap and is allowed to remain in this area for 4 to 5 hours and the pulp piled up in the area is removed again to be pressed (at 32). <IMAGE></p> |
