PURPOSE:To obtain a resin for a toner capable of forming always constant image quality during copying by mixing 30-70pts.wt. of the solid of a high polymer obtained from a vinyl monomer with 70-30pts.wt. of the solid of a low polymer obtained from a styrene type vinyl monomer and removing solvents. CONSTITUTION:The vinyl monomer is heated to 60-150 deg.C and bulk polymerized up to a polymerization degree of 30-90wt.%, and a solvent is added to reduce its viscosity, and further, solution polymerized at 60-150 deg.C to obtain 30-70pts. wt. of the solid of the high polymer, and the styrene type vinyl monomer is solution polymerized at 190-230 deg.C to obtain 70-30pts.wt. of the solid of the low polymer. The toner resin having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 2,000-15,000, a Z average molecular weight (Mz) of >=400,000, and an Mz/Mn ratio of 50-600 is obtained by mixing said pts.wt. of both said resins and removing the solvents, and the toner is obtained by adding ones properly selected from nigrosine, an electric charge controller including a metal-containing azo dye, a pigment dispersant, an offset preventive, and the like, thus permitting the obtained toner resin to be superior in copying aptitude. |
