PURPOSE:To obtain a resin-coated carrier low in apparent density and regulated in electric resistivity effectively for a magnetic core by forming a top coating layer made of a resin having an intrinsic volume resistivity of 1X10<5>-1X10<20>OMEGA.cm as a continuous film on a specified undercoating layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic carrier comprises the magnetic core 1 having roughness on the surface and a comparatively low apparent density, the undercoating layer 3 made of a conductive resin composition having an intrinsic volume resistivity of <=1.0OMEGA.cm formed so as to bury substantially all the roughness of the surface of the core 1, and the top coating layer 4 formed on the layer 3 as the thin continuous film and having an intrinsic volume resistivity of 1X10<5>-1X10<20>OMEGA.cm, thus permitting abnormal triboelectrification of the toner to be effectively prevented, occurrence of a spent toner to be also prevented, accordingly, a proper charging quantity to be maintained even by stirring for a long period, and the obtained image to be high in density and sharp and free from fog. |
