PURPOSE: To provide a process for dyeing cellulose fibers fast and without incurring ending by pad dying with vat dye, sulfur dye or the like wherein a specified colorless compound is compounded in the padding bath. CONSTITUTION: This process for cellulose fibers comprises pad dying using vat dyes, sulfer dyes, soluble vat dyes, azoic dyes or the like wherein 0.5-20 g/l colorless compound of formula I or II Q is C-Y or N (Y is H, a halogen, cyano, a 1-5C alkyl or the like) V and W are each R2 -X2 or R3 -X3 [X1 to X3 are each O, S, NR4 , NH-CO-phen-NH or the like (R4 is H, a 1-5C alkyl, a 3-6C cycloalkyl or phenyl; phen is phenylene)]; R1 to R3 are each an aromatic group or a heteroaromatic group; A is direct coupling, CO or the like; Z is an acidic water-solubilizing group; (m) is 1-6} and having affinity for fiber is added thereto and the pad dyeing is carried out by a conventional method.
