PURPOSE: To improve contrast and preservability by using an org. salt accompanied with an optionally substd. hetero arom. compd. as a photooxidizing agent, incorporating at least one specified group into the hetero arom. compd. and regulating the max. of the long wavelength absorption band of the org. salt to <=400nm. CONSTITUTION: A color former compsn. contg. at least one kind of colorless or practically colorless org. compd. convertible into a colored compd. by oxidation and a photooxidizing agent for the org. compd. is used. An org. salt accompanied with an optionally substd. hetero arom. compd. is contained as the photooxidizing agent. At least one group represented by formula I has been incorporated into the hetero arom. compd. and the max. of the long wavelength absorption band of the org. salt is regulated to <=400nm. In the formula I, R is a monovalent residue such as optionally substd. alkyl, an optionally substd. cycloalkyl residue or an optionally substd. hetero cation. Contrast and preservability are improved.
