The invention relates to a tyre cover for vehicle tyres. Circumferential marks which are of clearly visible colours and are in the form of large-area layers or e.g. individual spheres are vulcanised into the tread of the tyre between the reinforcement inlay and the surface of the tyre and when the permitted degree of wear of the tread occurs the said marks are exposed as strips or dots. The advantages of the invention consist in particular of the fact that it is automatically indicated when the profile drops below the permissible depth and that measurements for monitoring the profile of the tread which normally have to be carried out regularly are dispensed with.
