<p>AIRBORNE PULP DRYER KITES The invention provides an apparatus for feeding a web through an apparatus having rollers and wherein the web is air-borne. The apparatus comprises an air-borne leader connectable to the web. The leader is elongated and of a flexible, sheet-like material with a plurality of pockets formed thereon and having a plurality of laterally extending stiffeners. The apparatus is characterized by a plurality of transverse pleats formed on the sheet-like material. Each pleat extends about a transverse passageway extending from one longitudinal edge of the leader to the opposite longitudinal edge. Tubes are fixedly held within each passageway adjacent each longitudinal edge of the leader. There is a rod extending through each passageway. Each end of each rod is slidably receivable in one of the tubes. Each of the rods has a length which is less than the width of the leader at the position of the rod, permitting slidable movement of the tube with respect to the rod.</p> |
